Eco-Friendly Ganapati Project

Each year Ganapati Pooja festival is celebrated by people of all walks of life.  We decided that Ganapati Pooja would be a great occasion to support our charity’s Environment theme.
GMUKPT volunteers continues the tradition in the UK by helping GMUK Parivar and devotees from wider community to celebrate Ganapati Pooja in a more modern and an environmentally responsible way.  In keeping with the tradition, this year also, a handful of GMUKPT volunteers – including young children – put together long hours and their creative spirits to make eco-friendly Ganapati idols.
In keeping with our charity’s Environment theme, the volunteers used locally sourced eco-friendly material which after Visarjan, could easily dissolve in water (in a container at their home) and reused by the devotees in their garden to plant more.
The project was a tribute to our volunteers’ hard work, creative spirit, responsible intent and dedicated Seva (service) to the community. Ganapati devotees welcomed this initiative and with growing GMUK Parivar, we at GMUKPT are keen to scale this up and encourage use of eco-friendly material.
